What Are Real-World Assets?
Real-world assets (RWAs) are things that exist outside a blockchain: a gemstone, a warehouse of metal, a building, a government bond. The phrase only matters in crypto conversations because teams then try to represent those assets with tokens.
A ruby in a vault is an RWA. The token that points at that ruby is not the ruby. It is a claim, described by contracts and a Digital Asset Passport.
What counts
- Physical goods that can be identified and stored.
- Financial instruments that already have a registrar.
- Rights (rent, royalties) that a court would recognise.
What to demand
Name the custodian. Name the legal issuer. Show a recent check that the asset is still there. GemReserve’s intended stack is verification, custody and proof of reserves.
