What Is RWA Tokenization?
RWA tokenization means taking an existing asset, placing it inside a legal and custody structure, and issuing tokens that the structure treats as the transferable claim on that asset.
It is different from creating a new cryptocurrency. The hard work is off-chain: title, insurance, audits, valuation, AML checks and the right to redeem.
Typical stack
- Asset selection and legal title review.
- Independent measurement or laboratory work.
- Custody or registrar.
- An issuing entity and offering documents.
- A smart contract and a transfer agent or allow-list.
- Ongoing reconciliation β the token supply must match the assets on the shelf.
Gemstones versus other RWAs
Bonds have paying agents and ISIN codes. Real estate has land registries. Gemstones rely on laboratory reports, photographs, sealed parcels and vault logs. That is why GemReserve puts weight on verification, passports and reserve evidence.
