What Is a Digital Asset Passport?
A Digital Asset Passport is GemReserveβs name for the dataset that sits between a physical gemstone and its token. It is the file you should be able to open and see what the token claims to represent.

What belongs in the passport
- Asset ID and token ID, once issued.
- Species, variety, weight, measurements, shape and cut.
- Colour, clarity and treatment disclosure.
- Origin information when a laboratory has opined on it.
- Laboratory name and report number.
- High-resolution images and, where available, a 360Β° view.
- Custody location and status (in vault, in transit, redeemed).
- On-chain references when a contract exists.
What it does not replace
A passport is not a substitute for the laboratory paper or for a vault inspection. It is the index of those things. If the passport and the vault log disagree, the physical count wins and the record has to be corrected. That is the point of proof of reserves.
