What Are Tokenized Gemstones?
A tokenized gemstone is a digital token that represents a claim on a specific physical gemstone β or on a defined share of one β after that stone has been identified, independently checked, placed in custody and recorded on a blockchain.
The stone does not become βvirtual.β It stays in a vault. The token is the transferable record of who holds the economic and redemption rights that the programme defines.
What the token stands for
In a well-designed programme the token is tied to a documented asset: species and variety, weight, measurements, origin where known, treatments, laboratory report number, photographs and a custody location. GemReserve calls that bundle a Digital Asset Passport.
What it is not
- It is not a jewellery purchase by mail unless you later redeem the stone.
- It is not a cryptocurrency whose value floats only on narrative. Any value still depends on the stone, the legal wrapper and whether buyers exist.
- It is not, on this website, an offer to subscribe. GemReserve is pre-launch.
Why people look at this model
Physical gemstones are valuable, portable and awkward to divide, store and transfer. Tokenization is an attempt to keep the physical asset and make the ownership record easier to transfer under rules the issuer publishes.
